What do you mean you aren’t advertising? Grant Cardone, who is considered the leading authority on sales in the world, has a saying involving marketing, “If ya don’t know me, ya can’t flow me.” What he is saying is for people to do business with you, they have to hear about or from you and know who you are for you to dominate your market. Sales are SO important for the growth of your business. If you don’t have sales you don’t have income, If you don’t have income, you don’t have a business, and if you don’t have your business, well then you are broke and have to find a job. The point I am getting at here is that you could be the best salesman and closer in the world and close 100% of your LEADS, but if you only have 20 leads, you only have 20 sales. Since no one is ever going to close 100% of his or her leads or potential clients (unless you have one or two leads), you need more leads. If you had 100 leads you would only need a 20% closing ratio (and I am sure you can do better than that) to beat that Killer of a closer that just got 20 sales because he had 20 leads. That is why you NEED Marketing and advertising!!
YOU SHOULD STILL DO CONTENT MARKETING!…..HOWEVER,…
Well enough with the analogies. In today’s world, there are so many ways to get in front of your potential customers. It has grown and grown to where there is so much information coming at you that it is unbelievable. There is Instagram, Snapchat, Youtube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and so on. This vast goldmine of information, training, and attention-grabbing is getting so crowded it is hard to stand out at times. You do need to be posting great content for your business, brand, and to help make you and “authority” on the subject. The problem with this is that it is hard to gain attention this way. Over time you will be able to grow a large and loyal fan base from your content marketing strategy, but the social networks are pushing more and more towards paid outreach and making it harder to grow organically. The chances of someone just seeing your posts are getting lower and lower. Even if you have someone following your business page on Facebook, your post will only show to approximately 10% of your followers; this can be a problem when trying to blow up your business.
I think we would all agree that if we can really wow someone, we could get there attention and even possibly get their business. Moreover, the way to make sure that they see you is to pay to get on their phone right in front of their eyeballs 👀. Being on their phone is so powerful because you can target a specific group of people who are the most likely to buy our product/service. In business, you need to discriminate whom you are advertising to. If you don’t, you will spend way too much money. Don’t start whining and saying “oh, advertising cost me money.” Start thinking about how much money it costs you not to be advertising. If you are someone that brags “I get all my customers by word of mouth for free.” Just think how many more referrals, by word of mouth, you could get if you just ran a paid ad and the people who saw your ad, or saw your ad AND bought your product (extra bonus) would refer someone else they knew to you just because they saw an ad on their phone. Take another situation, someone is looking at buying a product that you sell, but he or she are looking at it at someone else’s store (or online). If you put an ad in front of that person at the right time, they might buy it from you instead. I could go on and on about this sort of stuff, but I think you get the idea, YOU NEED TO ADVERTISE!
Advertising is an essential part of a business, and it is not going anywhere. The question comes down to, are you going to advertise and try to dominate your market, or are you going to stand by and let your competitors run ads and dominate you and your market? To make it clear advertising will never replace excellent customer service or a great product. If the people don’t like the product or service that you give them, they won’t come back. However, if You have excellent service and a great product, look out you will crush it.
